The Bremen Test Center consortium (BreTeCe) introduces a new age of site spanning networked test system with their FastWAN solution. Our middleware platform Gamma V serves as the interface between systems and to I/O connected through external systems.
The FastWAN node controller was developed in a joint effort with FTI Group, Exxpert Systems, BIBA (an institute of the University of Bremen) and Airbus under the umbrella of the Bremen Test Center initiative (BreTeCe, successor to the research program "Bremen Technology Center"). It enables time synchronized transmission of video signals, process data and I/O values for elaborate place bound test systems via network connections (including internet connections). This ability is invaluable especially to the aerospace industry, as the huge facilities used in e.g. airframe or wing tests can not be moved. One exemplary application of the technology is connecting an A380 cockpit simulator in Toulouse with the high lift test system in Bremen in real time. Flight scenarios generated by the simulator are hydraulically applied to the wing in the test bed.
The runtime platform for the FastWAN node controller is our middleware Gamma V. The application software was jointly developed by RST and Exxpert Systems.
